Tulips
The Tulip ... originally a wild flower, growing in Central Asia, named after the Turkish word for turban.
The tulip was a popular trading product, leading to 'tulipmania' in the 17th century.
As with roses different colours bring their own meanings ... red is a declaration of love.
Tulip and the Monument
I took this shot at the Tulip Library between the Tidal Basin and the Washington Monument the other day.
